Low Data: 15 Days Later

So, it’s been 15 days. It has truly been a journey. I started this on January 15th, and I have mixed feelings about it. When I’m not at work, I barely use my phone at all, yet I’m still averaging 30 minutes. I’ve managed to overcome most of my YouTube addiction. Maybe that’s just me; in my words, “That’s what an addict would say.”

Pros and Cons

I’ve observed numerous pros and cons over these days, and the pros significantly outweigh the cons. In all honesty, it’s great. I’ve never been so productive; I’m working on my side projects all the time. I’m not as distracted anymore, and my communication with people has also improved a lot.

I’d like to share a list in no particular order:

Cons

  • Stressing over how many megabytes I’ve used in a day
  • Difficulty looking up information; not having a lot of data means I can’t search for stuff
  • Feelings of boredom

Pros

  • Improved battery life; I now charge my phone once every two days
  • Increased productivity; I’ve never done so much work in so little time
  • Easier socializing; boredom encourages me to talk to people more
  • Better sleep; I sleep on time every day and don’t feel as tired when I wake up now

Going Forward

I plan not to give up on this experiment. It has done more good than harm to me in these last days. Overall, it’s not easy adjusting, but it’s not life or death either. Moving forward, my primary objective is to use my phone only when necessary.
